Tim Salisbury, Grandson of Jr. Vice Burt Salisbury spoke to the members on how much the internal Detachment scholarship he received will help him in so many way. Tim also explained how he is currently serving the Jackson community on the First Aid EMT Squad. The Detachment wishes Tim the best of luck in college and beyond – Great young man.

Commandant Hyjack was awarded the Department Commandant of the Year and Paymaster James Klina was awarded the Department Associate Member of the Year. Commandant Hyjack noted with great Detachment Officers and all Detachment Members (like Jim Klina) anything is possible.
I’m glad 2020 is behind us and I’m looking forward to a new uplifting year for all of us.

Hope to start up our monthly Detachment meetings ASAP adhering to all the safety guidelines.
Jackson Marines continue to meet and support our community, fellow Veterans while remaining focus on all Covid-19 safety guidelines.
One of the main topics of discussion have been Veterans suicide rates which across the Country have averaged 22 per day. In light of this concern our Detachment invited John Roth, President of RECALIBRATE (a Veteran peer to peer support group) John is also a Brother Marine and Jackson Twp. Police Officer. John gave a brief overview of what’s going on with this major concern and how his organization his addressing the problem.
In addition to this our National Commandant of the MCL has issued a challenge to all Marine Corps League members to do 22 push ups a day for 22 days to bring awareness of the Veteran suicide problem.
Detachment 1369 also address the need to support our local Jackson Twp. Police Department and law in enforcement in general. Jackson Twp. Police Officers were invited to our Detachment meeting and were given a plaque, Thank You and the Detachment’s commitment to support them during these difficult times.

Commandant Hyjack and Sr. Vice Dushanek also participated in a Eagle Scout, Court of Honor for Ethan Davis (Ethan will be going into the Army as of this coming Feb. 2021). Ethan was awarded a Detachment Certificate, Eagle Patch along with a MCL Challenge Coin.
It’s been a long time since our last post – I hope everyone has been in good health and your spirits are high even under all the new restriction on our daily lives.

WELCOME ABOARD MARINES – OOHRAH
There were NO Detachment meetings during the months of April, May and June due to the Covid-19 lock down. We attempted one ZOOM meeting which proved we need more practice. The first meeting in July was attended by the MCL Department of New Jersey Commandant Joe DeAngelo along with Department Adjutant Marine Barbara DeAngelo. Marine DeAngelo spoke briefly on her running for the post of Department Jr. Vice Commandant. Our August Detachment meeting had a few more members in attendance (hope to see more as the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted) – during this meeting in attendance was MCL Department of New Jersey Jr. Vice Commandant Michael Waluk who also spoke about his running again for the position of Jr. Vice Commandant. The Detachment wishes both Marines Waluk and DeAngelo the best of luck at the Department Mimi Convention scheduled October 4, 2020.
During this August Detachment meeting we had the great honor of celebrating our “Senior” member Marine Anthony DiSiena’s 95th BIRTHDAY – the Detachment salutes you and wishes “Tony” a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MANY – MANY MORE.

Jackson Marines proudly marched in the Jackson Twp. Memorial Day Parade
Commandant Hyjack & Sr. Vice Dushanek visited Crawford-Rodriquez school in Jackson, NJ to speak to children about Veterans and the upcoming Memorial Day event.
Jackson Marines also marched in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery salute to our fallen Brothers & Sisters.

Sr. Vice Dushanek and Commandant Hyjack spoke to St. Monica’s Girl Youth Group regarding Military Awareness month – these young ladies were eager to learn and had lots of questions

After the swearing in ceremony members, family and guests were invited to join in the celebration with good food, drinks and good friends.
